Rogue Protocol — Martha Wells
My previous read was She Who Became the Sun, which I absolutely loved, but I needed to follow it up with some lighthearted and hilarious Murderbot, lol. I blasted through Rogue Protocol, the third book in The Murderbot Diaries, and it did not disappoint. I still felt the bitter absence of some characters in Book 2, but I loved the characters we were introduced to, like Miki and—to a lesser extent, lol—the new human crew. I would say it starts out slightly slower than the first two books, because there is quite a bit of walking around different rooms, but I am always in awe of how the author addresses the “Why?” of things. It’s the small details that allow us to explore the settings in depth, and by the end, I had the feeling I could draw a blueprint of the premises. If you haven’t started the series, I would absolutely recommend it! Especially if you need a quick breather between books that are dark and intense af. I already have book 4 waiting for me. |
